If Chevrolet ever had a year to be remembered, 1955 was it. In mid '55 Cheryx-millionth truck was built. And the long awaited 256 cubic inch overhead valve V-8 engine was introdnced. The new limited edition dream truck was the Cameo Carrier, a fancy styled 1/2-ton pickup with full width body, 12-volt electrics and optional V-8 engine. It used gleaming chrome bumpers, eye-catching Bel Air hub caps, and a showy chrome gill, and was set off bye distinctive cab with revolutionary wrap-around windshield and rear window. Its dispatch box had slab-side fiberglass outer skins for an all-on fenderless look.
